Mariposa 2014 – Day 1

This music festival started over 50 years ago and I’ve never been to it. When it started, people like Gordon Lightfoot and Bob Dylan were just finding their stride. And I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t know nearly enough about the who’s and what’s that make up the history of the festival. You can check out the Mariposa Festival archive which has lots of great info though!

I do know it’s great that it’s back in Orillia which is where it started. And I know I’m thrilled to be here! Finally.

Andrea and I arrived mid-afternoon on Thursday as part of the “Buses @ Mariposa” group. Our friend Doug and his wife Linda had invested some time and energy in spreading the word to get more buses and then working with the organizers to secure a nice spot for us all to camp. It worked big-time! And of course Greg came through with some awesome signs! That’s Babe at the far end of the Way (which is very close to the venue entrance).

Now that Friday is done most, if not all, of the buses are here so I expect to know tomorrow what the count is. My guess is between 30 & 40.

The day was fun… with the music starting after 5pm we had lots of time to socialize and unwind. And then lots of time listening to great music. I took a few photos and here are few split into two buckets…
